Screech looms on the Cardiff radar
CARDIFF Blues have targeted Dragons second row Matthew Screech as they seek to strengthen their front five.
Screech has impressed for the Dragons and the Blues think he would add depth to a lock pool which includes former Dragon and Wales forward Cory Hill plus his fellow internationals Seb Davies and Rory Thornton.
The Dragons won’t let Screech go without a fight as he has been a reliable performer, but TRP understands he is being offered in the region of £130,000 to sign for the Blues.
Screech, 28, is a former Wales U20 international and was previously part of the Blues set-up before making over 100 appearances for the Dragons.
Meanwhile, the Ospreys are leading the chase to sign Wales U20 ace Osian
Knott from the Scarlets.
Powerful centre Knott is out of contract at the end of the season.
He has struggled for game time at Parc y Scarlets after being hampered by a series of serious knee injuries.
The Ospreys are hopeful they can lure the 21-yearold to Swansea where he would join a midfield pool which includes Wales internationals Owen Watkin and Scott Williams with up-and-coming centres Kieran Williams and Tiaan Thomas-Wheeler.
The Ospreys are also set to offer a new deal to veteran fly-half Stephen Myler. The 36-year-old has been a key figure in the revolution at the Liberty Stadium since joining in the summer as emergency injury cover for Wales star Gareth Anscombe.
