To lose one could be seen as unfortunate and two careless, but three? That’s positively negligent in a position where England perennially struggle to find the right pairing. England age-group coaches invest a huge effort into developing England senior internationals for the future while the three named – excellent players one and all with Redpath a certain Lion for me this summer – will have kept out players who would have crawled over hot coals to represent England.
