Boyd: Gale forced us to play

-

SAINTS boss Chris Boyd believes playing into the wind in the second half yesterday might have pointed the way forward for Northampton.

He said: “It was quite a lot windier after halftime and we weren’t able to kick our way out of the back end of our field so we had to make the decision to play our way out, and I think that might be a little message for us.

“Any win in the Premiership at the moment is a good win. We hadn’t played for five weeks so we were a bit rusty but we haven’t lost in the last two months now, except for Covid.

“We’ve got Wasps away next week, which is going to be really tough, and we’ve actually got a tough block of four weeks so we needed to make sure we got some points.

“We’ve always had confidence in our ability and we know we have some ability. We’ve just got to make sure we put it on the field.”

Gloucester head coach George Skivington said: “We got more flustered than I would have liked as we made too many errors.

“We are aware of the discussions concerning relegation, or not, in our league but we are not talking about that and are just concentrating on improving and hopefully picking up some wins.”
