WORCESTER Warriors backs coach Matt Sherratt is leaving Sixways in the summer to return to the Cardiff Blues where he will link up with Dai Young.

Sherratt worked for the Blues as backs and attack coach between 2016 and 2017 before joining Warren Gatland’s Wales staff.

He has been with the Warriors since 2020 but will leave at the end of the season to replace Dwayne Peel, who has backed out of joining the Blues.

Peel has instead been offered and accepted the head coach job at the Scarlets, which is set to go through now Young has got his replacement.

It will create a vacancy on Jonathan Thomas’ coaching staff which could mean former Wales winger Mark Jones, currently a senior assistant coach, taking on the role.

Blindside understands that Eddie Jones’ ally, Ed Robinson, has been linked with the job while Rory Teague, who left Gloucester last summer, is also in the running.
