Nick stays Sharpe to seal Field’s win
LATE Nick Sharpe try brought Huddersfield’s losing streak to a dramatic end in a lively encounter.
The West Yorkshire side were locked at 17-17 as full time approached.
Sharpe breached the line, emerging from a well-executed driving maul to secure the vital points.
Will Milner opened the scoring for the hosts with a penalty before Henri Lavin picked up a loose ball outside Field’s 22 and smashed his way through to score.
Student’s prop Mink Scharink saw yellow just after the half-hour but the home side were unable to take advantage before the break.
Immediately after the restart a poor clearance kick was fed quickly to wingman George Barber who made no mistake down the right.
Tom Smith’s conversion stretched the lead to 3-12. But the hosts struck back immediately.
Lewis Bradley broke through to feed Kian Stewart on the wing, with his pace securing Field’s opening try converted by Milner.
Huddersfield went ahead minutes later. A slick move from the scrum saw Stewart take a perfect line, sprinting over unopposed. Going into the final quarter the visitors drew level with a try from Alex Wainwright, but Sharpe had the final say.
