Second-half surge helps Lymm lead the ladder

WITH just four games played this weekend, Lymm took the opportunit­y to move above league leaders Blackburn to top the table, although the East Lancashire side still have a game in hand on their Cheshire rivals.

It was far from easy for the home side against Sanbach as they had to recover from a first-half deficit, going in at the interval 0-14 down.

However, they came back after the break through tries from James Yates, Harry Martin, Oli Higgins and Scott Redfern to take the bonus point, with Cormack Nolan successful with three conversion­s and a penalty.

Sandbach got Laurie Essenhigh over, converted by James Preston, as well as forcing a penalty try later in the opening half.

Rossendale move back into third place having taken maximum points in their 29-35 win away to Macclesfie­ld.

Matt Probert, Jordan Lord, Brad Cave, Lewis Allen and George Peel crossed for the visitors all converted by Allen.

Despite the defeat, the home side still took two bonus points for finishing within seven and through tries by Sam Brown, Harry Harding Harry Oliver and Charlie Attis for the try bonus.

Attis also kicked three conversion­s and a penalty.

Northwich edged it 28-31 away to Manchester through tries from Matt Lafeta, Rory Lejdekkers, Tom Clark and Pat Douglas, all converted by Nick Baldwin who also slotted a penalty.

Charlie Green with two, Tom Travis and Charlie Ding crossed for the home side, all converted by Joe Davidson. Despite the loss, Manchester still picked up two bonus points with four tries and within seven points of the winners.

Stockport ran out 7-42 winners away to Kirkby Lonsdale. Sam Fisher and Don Sheratte bagged a brace apiece with Si Green and Tom Gardner the other tryscorers, all six converted by Ben Dearing.
