Sandal take full advantage

JUST four matches postponed from last December were played on Saturday afternoon.

And Sandal took full advantage!

With the Wakefield side coming away from thirdplace­d Heath with a 16-23 win, it meant they moved above Cleckheato­n and into fifth spot in the league table.

But with Heath falling to a somewhat surprise defeat, it meant they were unable to move above Alnwick into second place, albeit on points difference.

John Allott and Jake Adams were the tryscorers for the visitors, with

Adams also successful with two conversion­s and three penalties.

Ben Stringer was the home tryscorer, converted by Dan Cole, with Chris Johnson adding three penalties.

York were 7-15 victors away to Cleckheato­n through tries from Mitch Ashman and Tom Wolfenden, with George Davies slotting one conversion­s and two penalties.

In a high-scoring game at Kellythorp­e, Driffield took the honours 34-27 at home to Scunthorpe.

Jake Thundercli­ffe, Sam Gleeson, Matthew Jenkinson and Ben Dinsdale were the tryscorers, all four converted by James Watts who also landed two penalties.

James Dyson, Sam Green and Liam Brunt with two crossed for the visitors, with Tom Aldridge kicking two conversion­s and two penalties.

Ilkley emerged as 46-12 winners at home to Paviors.

Nathan Hyde, Peter Erskin, Archie Elwood, Chuckie Ramsey, Ben Walker, Keiron Wilyman and Floris van Oekel were the home tryscorers, with Ramsey also on target with four conversion­s and a penalty.

Phil Eggleshaw with two crossed for the visitors with George Billam adding one conversion.
