DUDLEY Kingswinford survived an early scare to go six points clear at the summit with a 20-14 victory over Burton.

The visitors started on the front foot with James Davies scoring a try that was followed by a penalty try for a buoyant Derby side.

DK had to settle for a single Samuel Vaughan penalty as the league leaders found themselves 14-3 behind at the break.

In the second half, DK showed their promotion credentials, scoring three tries through Vaughan, Thomas Walker and replacement James Ryan to secure their 13th win from 16 games.

Second-placed Bromsgrove lost ground on the leaders as they suffered a 50-28 defeat on the road at

Kenilworth.

Thomas Sadler, Nathan Fisher, Joshua Holt and James Gunther all scored tries in vain for the visitors, who suffered a seventh defeat of the season.

That defeat allowed

Syston to draw to within a single point of second place following a 48-36 win at Derby.

Adam Nunney scored a brace of tries for the visitors, while Luke Stewart, Aaron Dawson, Joe Sutton, Sam Read, Luke Veebel and Luke Williams also crossed the whitewash.

Bridgnorth also remain in the race for second spot after coming out 47-40 winners in a high-scoring encounter against Nuneaton.

The visitors provided a stern test, with Stew Davies, Toby Deardon, Martyn Wood, Elliot Brown and Travis Bennett all scoring tries to secure a losing bonus point.

Oundle, heavily beaten at Syston last weekend, bounced back to record a convincing 63-12 victory against Stoke-on-Trent.

Rob Shingles scored one of the 11 tries and celebrated a man-of-the-match performance with his 200th first XV try for Oundle in 191 appearances.

Tom Aviss scored a brace of tries, while Tom Oliver, Grant Snelling, Connor Grace, Mac Kitchener, Jacob Gent, Craig Tandy, Taylor Gourlay and Oliver Beech also scored.

In front of the posts, Tom Oliver kicked a hattrick of conversions, while Craig Tandy grabbed the other.

Broadstreet kept pace with Oundle in the battle for mid-table positions after a battling display saw them to a 32-30 win on the road at Lichfield.
