Usual suspects shine as Camborne impress again

- By MO SHER

CAMBORNE were at their swashbuckling best as they thrashed Old Centralians 67-12, scoring a whopping ten tries.

The usual suspects once again shone for the champions-elect, Ben Priddey and Aden Brassington scoring three apiece. Nico de Battista, Jordan Nicholls, Connor Gilbert and Chris Heazelton also scored.

Second-placed Chew Valley eased to a 41-22 win over Okehampton.

Jack Monk got them up and running, but the visitors turned around at half-time 17-12 up.

But it was a different story after the break, Chew winger Liam Evans crossing for his second of the afternoon before his side pulled away.

A penalty try, one from Joe Webb and then a final flourish – from the irrepressible Tom Bryan – completed a good afternoon’s work.

At the Mannings Ground, the bottom two sides played out a tense encounter, with Drybrook winning by a single point.

Despite the 21-20 win over Weston-super-Mare, they still trail their opponents by 12 points. Joe Burgess grabbed a brace for the visitors, with Euan Tremlett also scoring.

Third-placed Brixham went down 50-33 to Lydney.

Sam Thomas helped himself to two tries for the visitors, with Jamie Hext, Mat Crosscombe and Jordan Watson ensuring they went back home with at least a bonus point to show for their efforts.

Brad Dunn, Henry Sleeman, Joe Hamlin, Rowan Mullis, Jordan Fowke and Rob White, twice, all crossed for Lydney.

It was also a high-scoring affair at the Imperial Recreation Ground, where Exmouth saw off Devonport Services 35-23, with Lewis Geran following up his four-try haul from last week with a hat-trick for Exmouth.

And Ivybridge broke Cornish All Black hearts in the final minute as a Matt Finn try saw them claim a 31-30 win.
