Wallaby Koroibete leads way again for Saitama

- By TOM JEFFREYS Black Rams.

SAITAMA Wild Knights thumped Toyota Verblitz 40-7 to stretch their perfect record to 14 wins from 14. Marika Koroibete scored a third brace in a row, while former Sale lock Lood de Jager opened the scoring with a brace of his own within eight minutes.

Shizuoka Blue Revs had to settle for a second 31-31 draw, against Suntory Sungoliath, who missed the opportunity to pressurise Toshiba Brava Lupus who have a chance to go seven points clear in second this morning against second-bottom Honda Heat.

Blue Revs were the victims of a late equaliser, albeit not as dramatic as their 82nd minute effort against Spears Kubota last week, when Mikiya Takamoto knocked over a 76th minute penalty. The first half had ended 14-7 to Sungoliath – tries from Tamati Ioane and Kosuke Horikoshi responding to an early Malgene Ilaua try.

Sungoliath’s Isaiah Punivai scored in the first minute of the second half but Blue Revs scored 17 unanswered points before Takamoto salvaged a draw for Sungoliath.

Canon Eagles capitalised on a Kobe Steel draw last week to open a 12 point cushion in the playoff spots by beating Mitsubishi Dynaboars 43-19. They started quickly with Kouki Arai and Rohan Janse van Rensburg tries but went into half time 1919 after Shunta Nakamura equalised. In the second half, Nakamura completing his hat-trick before Jesse Kriel and Kobus Van Dyk put the game to bed. This morning Kobe
