Blaze took five hours to put out

A fire, which de­stroyed 1,000 square me­tres of gorse and took five hours to ex­tin­guish, is be­lieved to have been started de­lib­er­ately. Crews from Scar­bor­ough, Sher­burn, Robin Hood’s Bay and Fi­ley were called to the fire, on an em­bank­ment at Deep­dale Av­enue, at 10pm on May 5. The fire was ex­tin­guished at 3am.
