Blaze took five hours to put out
A fire, which destroyed 1,000 square metres of gorse and took five hours to extinguish, is believed to have been started deliberately. Crews from Scarborough, Sherburn, Robin Hood’s Bay and Filey were called to the fire, on an embankment at Deepdale Avenue, at 10pm on May 5. The fire was extinguished at 3am.
