Councillors must pay for their own ipads

-

RE: IPADS

An absolute disgrace. On the same day your paper announces potential 3% council tax rises, we read of our councillors being afforded a £400 ipad each. What sort of planet do Scarborough Borough Council think the residents live on?

It’s claimed it will ‘save money’. Rubbish. If this is the way forward technologically, as I’m sure they will argue, and possibly rightly so, how about they buy their own.

Radical thinking for the money grabbers they’re turning into, I know, but why should we pay for it?

I’m more and more appalled

for

councillors. each passing year at the way our council does things.

They want to ignore a government directive to freeze council tax, while squeezing more hardearned money out of Joe Public.

I intend to show my displeasure by withholding my council tax for next year, and shall claim I need it to buy my family an ipad each. Now that is radical.

But enough is enough Scarborough Borough Council, we’re not idiots that came down with the last rain shower. Andy Thorpe Dunn Grove

Eastfield I couldn’t believe what I was reading as I flicked from page one to two of Thursday January 19’s Evening News.

Possible Council Tax increase - seems they can’t manage even though the government says they should, then the headline “Council defends switch to ipads”.

I think we need to switch to an administration that will look after tax payers’ cash more prudently.

The ipads will be just “toys for the boys“, our councillors should already have computers and be receiving the bulk of their information via email anyway so Mr Anderson’s £10,000 mails and printing costs would seem to be a trifle exaggerated.

Scarborough Wasting money on ipads is plain disgusting. These are the same councillors who have laptops provided for them, so all council-related matters can be dealt with via laptop, no need whatsoever for an ipad.

Which consultancy firm did they appointto come up with this ludicrous idea? The last time they made their own decisions Noah was still building the ark! Richard Walters
