‘Dangerous’ inmate escapes prison van

Anslow, who is described as white, 5ft 10in and of medium build, with short, straight, dark brown hair, escaped. The two other prisoners remained in the van.

Detective Inspector Jon Marsden, of West Mercia Police, said: “Anslowhas recently been charged with murder and is considered dangerous.

“Wewould urge any members of the public who sees him not to approach him directly, but to contact police immediatel­y on 999.”

Police believe Anslowand the three masked men switched to a silver Mercedes car in Stoney Lane, Bromsgrove, soon after the attack on the van in Tardebigge, near Bromsgrove.

Anslow was charged with murder on January 18.

Mr Deakin, 27, died after being shot at his home in Chasetown, Staffordsh­ire, in July 2010. Police launched various appeals for informatio­n following his death, including a feature on the BBC’S Crimewatch programme and the offer of a £20,000 reward for informatio­n about his killing.

A spokeswoma­n for prisoner escort firm GEO Amey said: “We can confirm that two employees were threatened and one sustained facial injuries. Both were treated by paramedics at the scene. They continue to assist West Mercia Police with their investigat­ions.”

She went on: “The welfare of our employees and the safety of the public is of the utmost importance to us – we will continue to support our employees and assist the police and authoritie­s with their investigat­ions.”
