Backing for honours
COUNCILLORS have unanimously approved plans to appoint four new Scarborough freemen.
Retired boxer Paul Ingle and local businessmen Andrew Boyes, Tim Boyes and Don Robinson were granted the Freedom of the Borough of Scarborough in recognition of their “eminent services to the community”.
The honour has only been bestowed upon 15 people since Scarborough Council was given the power to make the award in 1974.
The council also made former mayor and councillor Lucy Haycock an Honorary Alderman at yesterday’s meeting at the Town Hall.
