These boots are made for GP’S walking

PATIENTS and staff at Hackness Road Surgery in Newby said a fond farewell to Dr Paul Robinson, who is retiring after 30 years as a GP in Scarborough.

He has been the family doctor for as many as four generations.

Dr Robinson and his wife Suzan live in Cloughton and have six grown-up children who were all educated at Scalby School and Scarborough Sixth Form College.

He has been overwhelmed by many good wishes from patients, thanking him for his professional and caring manner.

As a founding partner of Hackness Road Surgery, in 2000, Dr Robinson, along with Dr Alison Hark, built up a thriving, family-centred and friendly surgery.

He will be succeeded by experienced GP Dr Phil Jones, who has worked at the practice for several years, and part-time GP Dr Sian Currie.

Dr Robinson said: “Although I will greatly miss both patients and colleagues alike, I am looking forward to spending more time travelling and doing some long-distance walking.

“My wife and I hope to visit one of our sons, Ian, who is currently working as a doctor in New Zealand.

“I have been delighted to welcome Dr Jones and Dr Currie to work alongside present doctors Hark and Mumby in providing high quality patient care.”

Dr Jones, who formerly worked as a police doctor and for the rugby club, said that Hackness Road Surgery will continue to provide full GP services and dispense medicines from their main surgery, as well as their rural branch surgery in Cloughton.

He is planning to expand the practice’s opening hours for patients in the near future. PICTURE ABOVE ...
