Programme of events for guild

THE FILEY ladies’ lifeboat guild has announced its events programme for 2012, as the group marks its 60th anniversar­y.

The ladies’ guild AGM will take place on 15 March at 2pm in St John’s Church Parish Hall, West Avenue in Filey. Station coxswain, Barry Robson, will make an always popular presentati­on on the work of the RNLI and in particular Filey Lifeboat Station.

Fundraisin­g continues in a big way on Friday 6 April and Saturday 7 April with an Easter ‘eggstravag­anza’ at the lifeboat house starting at 10am each day.

A fundraisin­g collection will be held at the Tesco Store on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 May.

On Sunday 3 June, a mammoth tombola will be held at the lifeboat house from 11am onwards.

The ladies’ guild will have an RNLI souvenir stall at the Filey Festival Market on Saturday 23 June.

On 30 June, Filey ladies’ lifeboat guild is holding its Diamond Jubilee (celebratin­g 60 years of fundraisin­g) in a marquee onwest Avenue (by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Rhoden). It will be free admission to say thank you to the people of Filey and district for their loyal and continued support to the guild and the RNLI in Filey. More details will be announced nearer the time.

A further mammoth tombola will be held in the lifeboat house on Sunday 22 July as part of the of the annual station lifeboat weekend.

Chairman, David Wilson, said: ‘The Filey Ladies’ Guild have again, a very busy programme of events planned for this year and as a lifeboat station, we are extremely grateful for all their efforts, not only for this year but for the past 60 years.

“I would ask all of our loyal supporters to support the forthcomin­g guild events especially as the RNLI relies totally on voluntary contributi­ons for its existence and its future.’
