Camilla lands Marlins victory

- Division Three

SNC Marlins v Eastfield CAMILLA Bisi was Marlins’ star player again this week in a one-sided match against Eastfield.

Eastfield have several key players absent this season and this allowed Marlins to dominate from the start of the match.

The shooting duo of Bisi and Lisa Hiley were never troubled by the defence and they put in an almost faultless display.

Across the whole court Marlins heaped the pressure on, Dani Rowley, Clairethorpe and Rebecca Muggeson were fast and accurate through the centre court and Catherine Whyte was her usual tenacious self at WD, rarely allowing the opposition to get into their stride.

Creditmust go to Marlins’defensive pair of Laura Ramm and Kayleigh Tapsell as they continue to close down any attacking moves in the circle with ruthless efficiency.

Emma Northgraves was Eastfield’s player of the match, with Jo Fowler making the most of her opportunities at GS. Queen Bees v Castleton

Windows Angels On Tuesday evening, close rivals Queen Bees and Castleton Windows Angels met at Scalby School.

Both teams have a had a good season so far and find themselves sitting mid-table, and at this late stage in the season, every goal counts.

Angels took an early lead in the first quarter with some nice feeding into the scoring circle, and while Bees moved well in centre court, Angels ended the quarter 5-3 up.

Bees had a better second quarter due to some good teamwork, however the young Angels persevered and kept their lead by 11-6.

The pace of the game slowed in the second half for both sides as both teams seemed quite evenly matched.

Bees struggled with their shooting and, due to some good interceptions from the Angels, they failed to score in the third.

Angels only managed a few goals as Bees kept composure in the centre court, taking the score to 13-6 going in to the fourth quarter.

Both teams managed one final goal in the last quarter, again battling evenly for possession.

The match ended taking the win 14-7.

Players of the match were WA Olivia Muggeson for Angels, and Thuy Nguyen at WA for Bees, a great honour for her last match with the team.
