Rogues secure title win

ROGUES N JOSHERS 10 LANGDALE STRIDERS 0 ROGUES celebrated promotion, and finishing top, in style with an emphatic win over bottom-placed Striders.

John Blaymires, Lester Smith and Dave Archer were helped in staying unbeaten by playing against a two-man Langdale outfit. ROGUES N JOSHERS 6 DESPERATUM 4

In their first of two games in a week the Rogues had moved closer to snatching pole position in the division three standings.

Their number one Lester Smith saw them home in convincing style by taking all his singles in straight sets.

He was also involved in a vital doubles success with John Blaymires.

Team-mates Dave Archer and Blaymires secured singles for the four-point win.

Hospitals finished off their season by securing a very respectabl­e fifth spot.

Striders again could only call upon two players and paid the price in another whitewash result.

Ajay Tandan, Donaldwai and Saraj Othman won all their singles, but Striders’ John Warburton gavewai a fright in a rubber that went the full distance.

Warburton took the first two sets and then narrowly lost the fourth 12-10. It was a real fighting display fromwarbur­ton.
