Edgehill boss Clegg eyes Pier success
EDGEHILL manager Steve Clegg says they have to win their big division one clash at home to title rivals West Pier tomorrow.
The two sides are locked on the same amount of points, 48, but Edgehill have played a game more than their rivals.
Clegg said: “This is easily our biggest game of the season so far and we need to win it if we want to push on and get the championship.
“They will be up for it as much as ourselves and we both want to win the league so it should be exciting.”
Edgehill defeated Fishburn Park 2-0 last weekend while Pier were held to a 1-1 draw with Newlands.
Clegg added: “It was good for us that Pier drew with Newlands and we managed to pick up another three points.
“We both have strong squads and we are at full strength at the moment.
“We have players like our captain Ricky Greening, Danny White and Dean Craig, who are all on top of their game and will play key roles for us.
“For them you only have to look at players such as Neil Thomas and Paul Provins up front and Sam Hyde and Steve Sheader at the back to know they are a good team.”
Edgehill’s final three games of the campaign are against Pier, Fishburn Park and Newlands and Clegg is hoping his players keep their focus on the task in hand.
He added: “The Newlands game could be a title decider so we have to remain focused because they have also been in decent form and showed against Pier last Saturday what they are capable of.”

Second-from-bottom Fishburn Park face a tough taskwhenthey visit Eastfield while fellow strugglers Scalby are at high-flyers Newlands.
Division two promotion and title hopefuls Whitby Fishermen will be looking to move a step closer to the title when they face Filey Town Reserves away.
Table-toppers Seamer have played all their league games but Fishermen still have seven games in hand after they beat FC Rosette 3-1 on Wednesday night.
Fishermen boss Mark Storr said: “I think we will definitely go up but it is whether or not we can win the league now.
“We have a strong squad with the likes of captain Mark Storr, cousins Steve and Mark Swales and Jordan Purvis all impressing in recent weeks.”
