Care industry figures in hot seat at event
CARE providers in Scarborough are being given the chance to quiz leading figures over challenges threatening the future of the sector at a regional conference.
The Independent Care Group (York and North Yorkshire) is expecting around 200 care providers at its conference on April 24.
Organisers say the conference offers a rare opportunity for care providers on the coast to voice their concerns to some of the most influential people in the sector, including Department of Health and local authority management.
The group’s chairman, Scarboroughbased care provider Mike Padgham said: “Social care is going through an extremely tough time at the moment with local authorities spending less and less on buying in care and providers being squeezed.
“At the conference we will have senior figures from those local authorities and this provides an excellent chance for care providers in Scarborough and surrounding area to speak up and voice their concerns.”
The conference and exhibition will be held at Yorkshire Air Museum and has been given the title “Keep Calm and Carry On!” It will be chaired by BBC television personality Harry Gration and will also be raising funds for Help for Heroes.
The conference will attract private and voluntary providers of care homes, day care and home care across North Yorkshire and York.
There will be keynote speakers from the Department of Health and Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) as well as North Yorkshire County and City of York councils. There will also be a comprehensive exhibition and a series of workshops.
