Gr-eight victory as Dowson hits treble

-

SCARBOROUGH Ladies under-14s signed off their season with a fabulous 8-0 home victory against Ripon City Panthers.

With one eye on a cup semi-final in two weeks against league winners York RI, Boro didn’t take the game against the league’s bottom side lightly.

They took their time getting into the game, forcing the Ripon defence into a series of blocks, Olivia Jenkinson going close on a number of occasions.

The scoring was opened after seven minutes of the 25-minute first half.

Defender Lizzie Sartain found Emily Dowson with a neat pass, and the winger turned to fire home what would be the first of an impressive hat-trick.

A few minutes later it was 2-0, with Dowson again the scorer after Jenkinson and Lizzy Alport combined to create the chance, which Dowson buried with ease.

Before half-time the score had doubled to 4-0. Chloe Marshall tapped in from a Cara Orrah corner for the third, and then winger Marshall took a corner of her own which Ebony Earle blasted home for her first goal for the team.

In the second half keeper Becca Palmer barely had a touch as Boro were clinical at the other end.

Alport scored the fifth with a powerful strike across the keeper, and Dowson completed her hattrick in tremendous fashion with a shot into the top corner from inside the box.

Marshall added her second for the side’s seventh goal of the game, and then turned provided for Alport to score a second of her own with a tap-in from close range.

Boro now have two weeks rest before the journey to York for the cup semi-final on April 21.
