Pinder and Commercial old boys boost Valley

-

could well be one of the teams to look out for in

this season due to an influx of players from former champions Commercial.

The Ayton team will be led by former Commercial skipper Sean Pinder, who will be hoping to continue the all-round form that helped the Oriel-based club to many trophies during their brief existence in the league, before their resignation at the end of last season due to a lack of players.

Joining Pinder, pictured right, at the Garth End Road-based team will be big-hitting batsman Eric Hall, who is also a tidy slow bowler, along with all-rounder Leighton Bailey, powerful batsman Ian Laing Jnr and ex-cayton ace Si Pickin.

Pinder said: “As well as the five of us joining from Commercial, there was already a very good team at Valley, with batsman Tim Farrant, along with youngsters David Ledden and Liam Glaves likely to be key players for us this season.

“I think we should have a very strong team this season and will be challenging for honours.”

Valley start the season with what should be a lively clash at home to the former landlords of Pinder’s old team and a side with which Commercial had a fierce rivalry. Relegated sides and
