Starting on July 17, a mix of classroom s e s s i o n s , h e l d at St Catherine’s Hospice’s education department, and outdoor fieldwork sessions will take place every Wednesday at 7.30pm for eight weeks.

Mr Witty said: “The course is designed for beginners who want to move up a step from using a compact camera.

“Those who have a digital SLR or bridge camera will benefit the most.”

The course will cover the basic principles of photography including camera settings, composition, understanding light sources and photo editing.

Students will also have the chance to work on a glamour shoot and will receive online support from the tutors.

Mr Witty added: “We will be having a talk from a professional photographer who will explain how they went about taking their photos and what is needed to make a living in the photographic industry.”

The Summer Camera Workshop is sponsored by The Scarb o roug h News which is offering one reader a free place, worth £25, on the course.
