On Thursday May 7 the people of Scarborough and Whitby will go to the polls to determine who will represent them in Westminster for the next five years.
Sitting MP Robert Goodwill is standing for re-election and is being challenged by candidates from Labour, Liberal Democrats, UKIP and the Green Party.
On May 7 s ome voters i n Scarborough will vote in three separate elections: the General Election, borough elections and parish elections.
The Scarborough News will be covering both the national and l ocal elections i n detail across our print and online platforms.
We will be putting the questions that matter to the local community to the candidates and asking what they will do for our borough in Westminster.
Starting next week will be the first in a series of features where candidates answer questions on the subjects that matter to you, the people who will decide if they are blessed with the privilege of representing you nationally.
The subjects will cover health, education, business and more subjects and issues that are close to the hearts of the voters of Scarborough and Whitby.
We will also be hosting a public debate with all the candidates in April.
