Scarborough Sea Life Centre has revealed details of its new feature due to open this Easter.
They have announced they will be the first Sea Life site within Europe to introduce a walkthrough penguin experience, which promises t o l et g ues t s waddle s i deby- side with their adorable Humboldt penguins in a nobarriers enclosure.
To c o m p l e m e nt this new feature, the centre has revealed it will be introducing an additional eight penguins to their current colony of 12.
These additional penguins include six coming from Sea Life Blankenberge in Belgium and two baby penguins that h av e b e e n lovingly hand reared on-site by their dedicated animal care team.
The new enclosure boasts over 50 per cent more water which will feed into a brand new waterfall and running stream.
Additionally, the centre has invested in the development of a brand new underwater viewing cave where guests will be able to learn all about the important conservation i s s ue s s u r r o u n d i n g t h e i r feathered friends.
Further i nve s t m e nt s i nt o t h e c e nt r e i n c l ud e a multifunctional schools room to add value to those seeking an educational visit, alongside a new underwater- themed retail area where guests can pick up treats to remind them of their visit.
R i c h a r d D i l l y, g e n e r a l manager, said: “Local annual pass holders t hi s year a re in for some real treats, with the investment in new areas, as well as events f rom t he Octonauts and LEGO.
“We a r e t h r i l l e d t o b e working with the Scarborough News to offer a special discount rate for our l ocal residents on the production of four tokens collected from participating newspapers.”
