Magnificent Milne claims Tri-Star title win

Rosedale Lake, which hosted Sunday’s final round of the Tri-Star Winter League, is to re-open for pleasure angling this coming Saturday.

Day permits are priced at £6 and £5 concessionary with eve ni ng tickets becoming available when the evenings lengthen.

Sunday’s match was a final triumph for long-time league leader Gary Mil ne, who finished his successful winter league campaign with the only double figure net of the day which owed much to a solo quality carp.

The bonus fish tipped the s cal es at 8lb 1 2oz and was banked while ledgering close to the island which helped to boost his winning weight to 12lb 4oz, the remainder of which consisted of roach to 6oz taken after switching to 14.5 metre pole tactics at peg 42.

His endeavours over the ten match series earned him 78 l eague points i n total, a lead of eight points over his nearest rival Neil Hogg, who unfortunately lost ground on the day with a fifth place 6lb 7oz finish from peg four. The opening fixture of Scarborough Mere Angling Club’s 2015 season of 40 hour matches is scheduled for the weekend of March 13 to 15 on the main lake at the Mere.

The series of eight matches is scheduled to be staged monthly until November with the exception of April which has instead been earmarked to accommodate the two heats and the final of the annual 24 hour carp competition.

The draws for all 40-hour matches are at 5pm on the Friday, with the match starting at 6pm and continuing until 10am the following Sunday.
