Hair and beauty students from Scarborough have battled their way into the finals of a national competition.
The Academy in Roscoe Street took the students to Gateshead to compete in the regional heat of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Competition.
The winners, who go through to the finals in Blackpool next month, are: Natasha White, from Hair by Helena, who won first place in the Advanced Skills competition; Dalia Rowe, from Poppys, won first place in Ladies Evening Style; Daniel Rollisson, from George Henry, was awarded second place in Men’s Cut and Finish; Lorna Marsh, from Liberty Retreat, was awarded fourth place in Avant Garde; Vicky Harper, from Goodys in Malton, won Ladies Cut and Blow Dry; Rosie Lovitt and Beth Sample, both from Scarborough, were placed in the Level 3 Beauty Therapy Fantasy Make up Competi- tion; Hollie Massheder from Pickering and Molly Fairweather from Kirkbymoorside, both at Goodys Salon, were placed in the Advanced Skills competition.
Natasha White, 20, of Eastfield, said: “I couldn’t believe it when I won. I was buzzing!” She had to create a day and night style on model Philippa Wright.
Lindsay Burr, director of The Academy, said: “I am delighted that we will go through to the National Finals on March 16.
“We are extremely proud to work with so many hair and beauty salons in the Scarborough area. Congratulations to these employers and to the apprentices themselves who have worked so hard to achieve this.”
