A diversity of tactics proved to be the successful approach for Westland AC’s Terry Tierney which resulted with him topping the frame in both the club’s midweek fixtures.

His notable double consisted of a comfortable 39lb 4oz all silver fish win during Tuesday’s match at Forest Lane followed on Friday by a more competitive victory at Westland Little Tench lake with a mainly carp net scaling 29lb 12oz.

At Tuesday’s 13 peg event at Forest Lane his all silver fish net helped him finish with more than 17lb to spare over his nearest rivals thanks partly to three barbel to 1.5lb tempted on groundbait feeder fished double dead red maggot.

He then topped up his winning weight with several chub to 3lb, a specimen 2lb perch and numerous roach, rudd and skimmers to 8oz all banked via the pole at 11 metres, while alternated worm and caster over potted in chopped worm and casters. The cause of the fatalities which include silver fish is at present unknown however fish testing and water analysis is currently in progress in an attempt to determine what caused the problem.
