I n North Yorkshire there is an array of beautiful stately homes to visit all with stunning ga rd e ns a nd most of f e r i ng Easter events including Easter Egg Trails and family activities.

The location for Brideshead Revisited, the majestic Castle Howard has i dyllic gardens, and an adventure playground whilst Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens is the perfect English house.

And don’t forget Sc a rb o roug h Ca s tl e if you want to experience some local history.

Sewerby Hall, Bridlingto­n combines a grand house, zoo and beautiful gardens and has a ra nge of Easter ac ti v i t i e s ranging from medieval jousting to a craft fair.

Most museums have interactiv­e experience­s where children and adults can role play and turn back the clock and see what life was really like in the past.

A walk or a bike ride makes the perfect holiday activity.

Whether it’s a gentle stroll along the promenade, a cliff walk or a more energetic ramble or ride in The North Yorkshire Moors National Park there are plenty of bike trails and walks throughout the area.

Peasholm Park is the perfect place to stroll and relax and maybe i ndulge i n one of the special Easter activities offered by the North Bay Railway. While serious train buffs might prefer a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway followed by a journey to one of its picturesqu­e destinatio­ns.

If you want to get close up and personal to animals, birds and f i sh then there’s a wide choice of places to go. From the new Penguin Island attraction at Scarboroug­h’s Sea Life to the nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs, with its activities and workshops in the new visitor’s centre there’s a whole new world of nature on tap. And if you want to get really wild Flamingo Land has both it s renown zoo and some of the scariest white knuckle rides imaginable

Both Bridlingto­n and Scarboroug­h Spa offer a fantastic programme of entertainm­ent including live shows and of course nothing beats the real coastal experience of fish and chips, ice cream and maybe, if you are weather savvy, an i ce- cream enjoyed from a deckchair on our glorious sands.
