Messy Church met and after a fish fingers and chips tea had their opening worship in the chapel which told the story of Peter in the form of a drama, Rockety Rock.

Then it was time to get messy. We painted stones with hearts and crosses to remind us it was out of love for us that Jesus went to the cross. We wove cross bookmarks and made Easter egg baskets. We made Holy Week wheels which reminded us of all the different things that happened during Holy Week. Our big art was an Easter wreath telling the story of Easter which is in the window in the Link.

In the closing worship we danced as we sang The Lord of the Dance then we heard about people who saw Jesus after the resurrection. After blessing one another with the Messy Grace we gathered up the things we had made and discovered chocolate eggs in the baskets we had made. The next Messy Church is on Saturday May 23. Meet for tea at 4.45pm.

Palm Sunday morning worship was led by the Rev Bob Whitfield assisted by his wife Brenda. The welcomer was Christine Pickard and the Palm Cross was placed at the foot of the cross by Janet Tebb. Organist was Chris Cade. Steward was Liz Aconley who also read the lesson from Psalm 118.

Mrs Whitfield told us the Palm Sunday story and helped the children make a lovely craft of paper praying hands which they distributed to each member of the congregation and Kiara, India, Joe, Evie and Winnie also distributed palm crosses to the congregation.

The Rev Whitfield spoke about Palm Sunday and how open hands that welcomed Jesus as the people shouted Hosanna became fists as folk called out crucify just a few days later.

Worship for Easter includes a service on Good Friday at 3.30pm led by the worship leaders followed by a bring and share tea.

There will be an all age worship service for Easter Sunday at 10.30am led by Christine Fenwick and Jean Brown. All are invited to come and share in these times of worship.
