Organisers have hailed the inaugural Seagull Trophy a huge success, with 16 local under-eight and under-nines sides taking part at the Hull University Scarborough Campus throughout Saturday.
Despite the wet weather in the morning, the undereight teams played on and the crowd of spectators watching on were rewarded for braving the elements with some thrilling games.
The under-eight group stages saw Driffield Panthers and West Pier top their respective groups, but the Panthers were knocked out as Old Malton put in a superb attacking display to win 4-1.
In the other semi-final a single goal was enough for Scholes Park Raiders to see off fellow Scarborough side Pier.
A tight Trophy final between Old Malton St Marys and Scholes Park Raiders looked to be heading for penalties, before a golden goal with just seconds left sealed victory for the Ryedale side.
The Plate competition was won by Scholes Park Tigers, as they edged past Whitby Fisherman.
In the under-nines competition, FC Seamer lifted the Trophy with Flamborough Devils winning the Plate final.
Burlington Jackdaws won all three group games, however Seamer made it through to the final to face Sproatley Juniors, after they overcame Brooklyn Juniors.
FC Seamer claimed a lastgasp win over Sproatley Juniors in the Trophy final, with the game again going into extra time until a ball into the box was diverted into the back of the net by a Sproatley defender to give Seamer a 3-2 victory.
In the Plate final Flamborough took on Driffield Warriors, with Flamborough netting the win.
All of the teams involved were given a memento of the day, with both competitions being played in good spirits from players, coaches and spectators observing the FA Respect Campaign.
Organiser Dave Chamberlain, who is manager of the Scarborough Athletic under-12s team that ran the event with him, said: “It was a great day with some fantastic football played and a very good attitude shown by all the players.
“A special thanks to Hull University Scarborough Campus for their help and support in setting up the Seagull Trophy, plus to all of the referees and volunteers who made the tournament a success.”
