MUMMIES THE WORD
Quite literally the perfect Halloween outfit for mum? Why a mummy of course! Buying a printed bodysuit costume is the easiest option, but at-home mummification is possible with a bit of help. Buy several metres of bandage (or rip strips of white fabric), and wrap them over a long-sleeved top and tights, securing with the smallest safety pins you can find. Mummy Adult Costume, £23.99, Smiffys (www. smiffys.com)
Evil Queen Adult Costume, £23, Littlewoods (www. littlewoods.com) Always start with a clean, dry face and apply some make-up primer to help the face paint stay on all day. Make sure you allow a few minutes for your primer to dry before applying face paint. Choose a background colour and using a sponge to create an even layer on the face. Start in the centre of the face and work outwards, applying the face paint evenly across the face. Practise the look on a piece of paper before you try it on the face, as this will give you confidence in what you’re creating and get you used to the design. How to turn any costume (policeman, teacher, pirate…) into a zombie? add a deathly pallor with white base, paint on big black eyes and drizzle fake blood around your mouth. And don’t forget to zombify your hair! Spray in lots of dry shampoo, backcomb messily then finish with lots of hair spray and a splatter of fake blood. Want a chic alternative to a full face of paint? Then focus on creating dramatic gothic eyes (think Natalie Portman in Black Swan) with black eyeliner and eyeshadow.
