MUMMIES THE WORD

-

Quite literally the perfect Halloween outfit for mum? Why a mummy of course! Buying a printed bodysuit costume is the easiest option, but at-home mummification is possible with a bit of help. Buy several metres of bandage (or rip strips of white fabric), and wrap them over a long-sleeved top and tights, securing with the smallest safety pins you can find. Mummy Adult Costume, £23.99, Smiffys (www. smiffys.com)

Evil Queen Adult Costume, £23, Littlewoods (www. littlewoods.com) Always start with a clean, dry face and apply some make-up primer to help the face paint stay on all day. Make sure you allow a few minutes for your primer to dry before applying face paint. Choose a background colour and using a sponge to create an even layer on the face. Start in the centre of the face and work outwards, applying the face paint evenly across the face. Practise the look on a piece of paper before you try it on the face, as this will give you confidence in what you’re creating and get you used to the design. How to turn any costume (policeman, teacher, pirate…) into a zombie? add a deathly pallor with white base, paint on big black eyes and drizzle fake blood around your mouth. And don’t forget to zombify your hair! Spray in lots of dry shampoo, backcomb messily then finish with lots of hair spray and a splatter of fake blood. Want a chic alternative to a full face of paint? Then focus on creating dramatic gothic eyes (think Natalie Portman in Black Swan) with black eyeliner and eyeshadow.
