The annual lifeboat row between Scarborough and Whitby raised £1,364 for Scarborough RNLI. The event was in memory of Colin Bell – the man who started it. Mr Bell died in a diving accident off Hartlepool in 2009, a week after organising the third row. The 105-year-old boat is based at Whitby and belongs to Whitby Historic Lifeboat Trust. A century ago, it played a major part in the dramatic rescue of the occupants of the Rohilla hospital ship, off Whitby.
