‘Lots’ up for grabs at charity auction for Rainbow Centre

-

A huge array of lots - including once-in-a-lifetime experiences - will be going under the hammer tonight in aid of the Rainbow Centre.

The charity auction will take place at Woodend from 7pm with selected lots available to bid for.

Silent bids were made up until September 30 and members of the public are welcome to attend tonight’s finale, where they can bid in person.

Catalogues, which include a bidding form, are available from the Rainbow Centre, which is on the corner of Castle Road and Auborough Street.

It can also be viewed online at www.therainbowcentre.org and a bidding form can be downloaded.

Special items at the auction include a bottle of House of Commons claret, a first edition of The Woman in Black, the chance to start the annual yacht race to Holland, a signed England football shirt, a champagne tea with the Ayckbourns, a hand-made patchwork quilt and a carriage ride.

There are also chances to be named as a character in a Bill Kitson thriller, to commission your own artwork or to drive a miniature train with 12 friends.

Some of the items will be available to view at the finale event. If you would like more information, please email anne-morley169@btinternet.com.

Ros Dyson, one of the organisers, said: “There are some really special items - our donor have been so generous.

“The guide prices are there to give people an idea, but they can bid whatever they think an item is worth.”

The funds will help the Rainbow Centre continue its life-saving work with people who are homeless, in need of food parcels or receiving debt advice, among other practical support.
