Have a monster time with top illustrator at Rotunda

-

A leading paleoartist and comic book illustrator for 2000AD will run free workshops at Scarborough’s Rotunda Museum later this month.

James McKay is a UK-based illustrator, writer and designer who recently illustrated the new series of the dinosaur themed comic strip Flesh for 2000AD, written by “the godfather of British comics”, Pat Mills.

James is also well known in France for his bandes dessinées album series City of Secrets. He will lead drop-in workshops based around the Rotunda’s Cretaceous plesiosaur skeleton on Thursday October 29, between 10.30am and noon, and 1.30pm to 3pm.

And Jurassic sea creatures will be the focus of a series of free family events at the museum over the October halfterm, linked to the national Big Draw scheme. Visitors can take part in Stories from the Deep, a drawing trail which will encourage them to sketch some of the museum’s exhibits, including ammonites, a plesiosaur skeleton and other sea creatures, from 10am to 5pm between Saturday October 24 and Sunday November 1.

The Big Draw is the world’s biggest drawing festival with thousands of, mainly free, drawing activities; visit www. thebigdraw.org
