St Martin’s
The Rev Liz Kitching led and presided at the 9.30am service of Holy Communion. Dot Francis read the account from Mark’s Gospel of the rich young man who came to Jesus, and pastoral assistant Wendy Haslam preached on discipleship, asking the challenging question: are there things in our lives which we value more than our commitment to Jesus? Jean Donovan led the intercessions and assisted with the distribution of communion. Edna Burton accompanied the hymns. The sidespeople were Doreen Livesey and Janet Lamb, and Julie Stephenson served refreshments.
The Rev Kitching also led the family service at 11am and spoke about God’s love for us all. The children assisted with the sermon as they decorated and assembled a banner which read, ‘God so loved the world that he sent his one and only Son’ - wellknown words from John’s Gospel. Steve Raettig (keyboard) led the sung worship with Chloe and Esme Raettig (percussion), and Esme also gave the Bible reading. Liz Cremer was the sidesperson and Julie Hall served coffee.
