Moira Audsley welcomed 32 members to their monthly meeting at the community centre and read out a letter from Marie Curie’s head of supporter relations thanking the club for its gift of £750 from last year’s fundraising events.

Mrs Audsley introduced the speaker, Tim Stubbs, who said that he had been born into a musical Scalby family and, after attending Ripon Cathedral Choir School, Eton College and Oxford University, had pursued a musical career for the past 30 years in London theatres becoming a freelance arts manager and producer. He is now based in Scarborough.

A raffle was won by Chris Penfold, Margaret Taylor, Brenda Martin, Barbara Smith, Lynn King, Pauline Osborne and Maureen Pledger. Jill Coupland donated £51 which she had raised in a personal raffle to the club’s current charity.
