Grant for community hall
Newby and Scalby Community Hall has received a grant of £5,573.
The cash – which is part of a £500,000 pot – has been distributed by waste management and recycling company Yorwaste and Yorventure, a registered environmental body.
There are a number of other recipients across Whitby and Ryedale.
Steve Barker, managing director of Yorwaste, said: “We are pleased that so many community and environmental projects close to our landfill sites were able to benefit from these grants over the last 12 months.
“Close to £11 million has been awarded to an amazing 677 projects since the fund was first established and we are very proud to have been able to provide support across our operating areas.”
Yorventure Chairman Neil Carrigan said: “We are very grateful to Yorwaste for the contributions that make this possible, and we are also enormously grateful to the community groups who envisage these projects, apply for funds, and then bring the projects to life.”
