New homes for stadium
Plans to build 45 homes on the site of the former McCain Stadium in Seamer Road have been approved.
The application by Gleeson Developments Limited included detached and semidetached two, three and fourbedroomed homes.
The homes will be located to the rear of the site, which is also set to include a Lidl supermarket, which was granted permission earlier this year.
Due to the store access to the new housing estate will be via Hinderwell Road, not Seamer Road.
The plans were approved at a meeting of Scarborough Borough Council Planning and Development Committee at a meeting on Thursday last week. A new stadium will be built in Weaponness, beside the new UTC and university campus.
