The harvest festival will be held at St Hilda’s Church this morning (Thursday) at 9.30am. Please join us for this autumn celebratio­n. We will be collecting for Ryedale Foodbank. They would be grateful for tinned items such as soup, beans, sweetcorn or packets including rice, pasta, tea and biscuits. Please do not donate fresh items this year.

The school will once again this year be supporting the Sherburn churches Christmas shoebox appeal. We would appreciate anything that you are able to give such as small cuddly toys, small puzzles and games, toiletries and stationery. Please do not send lotions or liquids, food or chocolate, fragile or sharp items. Your help is very much appreciate­d. Please hand your items into school by tomorrow (Friday). Boxes will be filled during October half-term. Pamela Ward. We were greeted by Christine Pickard and the steward was Liz Aconley who also read Psalm 1 to us. The gospel lesson was read by Janet Magee and organist Chris Cade.

The service this Sunday at 10.30am is to be led by our new superinten­dent minister, the Rev Graham Morgan and all are welcome. Family cinema will be held in the chapel hall on Saturday at 6pm when we can enjoy the new Cinderella movie. Admission is free with a nominal charge for the tuck shop. Come along and enjoy this family friendly film.
