History of graphic art
An excellent turnout of 45 probus club members enjoyed Patrick Argent’s presentation of the history of graphic art. Commencing with turn of the century material, Patrick’s talk was based around 101 slides which examined posters, packages, logos, publicity material and postage stamps.
The evolution of the swastika and the promotion of the Olympic Games were two themes that produced riveting material and it was generally agreed that this was one of the club’s most riveting meetings.
Afterwards a number of members repaired to the Hare and Hounds pub before a guided tour of Knapton Power Station and an opportunity to learn more about fracking. Members are reminded that the Christmas lunch is at Park Manor on December 9.
Next meeting on November 3 will be a comprehensive insight into the workings of Scarborough Library.
