Gilsenan claims national success
Scarborough’s Lucy Gilsenan scooped victory in the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur second round hosted at Holmside Hall in Durham.
The venue saw competitors come forward for the chance of claiming one of the direct qualification tickets on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championship finals which will take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between November 18 – 22.
Improving on her placing in the 0.95m second round was Gilsenan with her own 10-year-old chestnut mare Qui Qui.
Drawn fourth to go in a nine-horse jump-off, this combination produced their double clear in a time of 30.11 seconds. This result not only gave them the win, but also a championship qualification place.
Last year Gilsenan earned multiple success at the David Broome in Wales, followed by victories in the National Cash Jumping finals at Netley Hall and the title of Port Royal Show Jumper of the Year.
