Bradford our toughest test for years

-

I’d definitely say Bradford & Bingley are the strongest side we have come up against over the last couple of years. Bradford had a number of stand-out players and they dominated the game after we caught them cold for the first 15 to20 minutes.

We knew we had to shake off the coach journey. We really did start well and maybe shocked them a bit in taking a 19-0 lead, but we were was superb in those early stages.

But they showed their class throughout the rest of the game and maybe a bit of fitness and a bit of the journey over came back to bite us a bit.

While we didn’t play well for the full 80 minutes again, there are a lot of positives to take from the team’s performance.

Ant Coffey (pictured right) was outstanding and fully deserves his man of the match award.

It’s hard to pick out anyone else as we were under the cosh so much after the first 15 to 20 minutes.

Young Hayden Ogilvie really grew into the game at loose head prop over the 80 minutes.

His opposite number was a quality player who has played at a high level and Hayden really struggled early on, but he stuck to his task and that will be a good learning curve for him going forward.

I’d say they were just the better side and they’ll more than likely win Yorkshire One this season.

We’ve now got a very tough home game against Hullensians on Saturday and we’ll be keen to get back to winning ways.

I have to add that it’s great to see the Vikings flying high in their league.

When we have the Vikings doing well it gives everyone a boost and it provides excellent competition for places too, so well done to them.
