A council meeting was held in the memorial hall on October 13. Present were Cllr H Mallory (chairman) in the chair, Cllrs V Milner, D Raine and WH Smith County Cllr D Jeffels, PC G Bilton, PCSO R Newcombe, 15 members of the public and the clerk. Apologies for absence received from Cllrs H Pickles and D Morrison.

Reports received: the long lane advisory signs competitio­n and prizes will be presented at the school to the two winning entrants; the best kept gardens and allotments competitio­ns 2015, that the various prizes had been presented to winners by the chairman and vice chairman; County Cllr Jeffels gave an updated report on his work with the county council over the past month, and he also advised that he would be having a meeting with representa­tives of county council on November 9 concerning requiremen­ts for the long lane advisory sign dimensions and he would report the outcome at the next meeting; Cllr Milner reported on the last meeting of the Community and Police Group (CAP); the previously circulated minutes of the meeting of the council held on September 8 were approved as a correct record, and the only matter arising related to the open air cinema planning applicatio­n which is still awaiting a decision.

Eleven items of correspond­ence were considered and received, and a number of actions arising were agreed.

The council considered the following planning applicatio­ns and took the decisions shown: (a) 15/01639/ FL - conversion and extension to provide A1 unit at EYG Window Centres Salter Road Eastfield. Resolved that no objection be raised; (b) 15/01948/OL - applicatio­n for a new planning permission to replace extant planning permission 05/01991/OL for a business park (B1, B2 and B8 uses) and car showrooms, hotel, ancillary retail, associated highway works, car parking and landscapin­g at Scarboroug­h Business Park, Dunslow Road, Eastfield. Resolved that no objection be raised; (c) 15/01901/FL - proposed siting of 21 static caravans at Arosa Caravan and Camping Park, Ratten Row, Seamer. Resolved that no objection be raised; (d) 15/01890/HS - erection of one single storey side extension, one one-and-a-half-storey side extension, one two-storey rear extension, erection of outbuildin­g to rear, creation of driveway and landscapin­g to front at Weydale Farm Cottages, Seamer Moor, Lane Seamer. Resolved that no objection be raised but the exit from the site should be splayed to improve visibility; (e) 15/01940/ FL - provision of three additional lodges at Saxon Park, Crossgates. Resolved that no objection be raised.

Financial matters were discussed and included the following community grant requests: The council considered an email from the secretary of the Crossgates Community Centre Committee in relation to their applicatio­n for grant. Resolved that a grant of £500 be made; the council considered an applicatio­n for grant towards damp proofing of the memorial hall from the chairman of the Memorial Hall Committee. Resolved that a grant of £500 be made; parish security was reviewed and will be reviewed again in November 2015.

Jubilee Allotments. It was noted that the holder of the plot adjacent to the willow tree raises no objections to it remaining.

The meeting closed at 8.45pm.

The next meeting will be held at Crossgates Community Centre on November 10 at 7pm.
