Medieval talk on town
On Friday October 30, Chris Hall of the Scarborough Archaeological and Historical Society will give a talk about the model of medieval Scarborough which is at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church, Ramshill.
The model always attracts a lot of attention from visitors, and from local residents who remember it being at Woodend and who greet it like an old friend. All age groups marvel at the detail achieved by the model-maker, the late Peter Farmer, and his various helpers, when it was made in 1977.
Chris will give the talk in the church’s Heritage Chapel, where the model is on permanent display, commencing at 2pm. He will take us on a ‘tour’ of the Old Town, and include information which has since come to light through recent archaeological digs, shedding light on life in the town and its importance in the medieval era. Entry is via the Albion Crescent door and is free, though donations are welcome.
