Teenager to embark on a journey to teach in Vietnam
A teenager is preparing for an international adventure and is raising money for the journey of a lifetime to Vietnam.
Soony Brookes, 18, finished his A-Levels at Scarborough Sixth Form College in June and has been saving up for a three-month trip to Vietnam to teach English to native school children.
With a £750 bursary from Lattitude Global Volunteering, the company he is travelling with, Soony has been working hard throughout the summer to raise money for the journey which he embarks on in February.
He has raised approximately £4,000 of the £5,000 total so far.
Soony said: “I want to do my placement in a country that has a very different culture to England.
“V i e t n a m h a s a va s t number of stunning sights to see and I would really like to be able to visit some of these location on my time off.
“I think that a teaching placement would be a really enjoyable one. I imagine that it will be fun getting to know the students and to l earn a b o ut V i e t n a m t h r o u g h them.
“I am really looking forwa r d t o i t , me e t i n g t h e chil dren and exchanging cultures with them.”
