Sir Gary: ‘Tour was truly great!’

The first day of the race finished in Scarborough last year, and while Scarborough’s role in the 2016 event is unclear, the man who helped secure the event for the region said he expects some of the world’s best riders to participate next year. “From the first moments of the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire everyone who was there knew it was something special,” said Sir Gary Verity. “I’m delighted that we are able to bring the 2016 race to all four corners of Yorkshire,” he added, after it was announced the race would cover an area between Middlesbrough and Doncaster.
