Miss Scarboro’ set to shine at Miss England
Miss Scarborough and District will be flying the flag for the town at tonight’s Miss England final.
Lauren Cole, 20, of Filey, is also representing Hull after being crowned a double winner.
The Miss England contest is being held in Southport and also incorporates the Mr World competition.
Last night the event featured the Miss Talent and Miss Eco rounds, with contestants wearing a dress they have made themselves from eco materials.
Before setting off to Southport, Lauren said: “I’m nervous but really excited.
“I’m sure I’ll be OK when I get there and meet all the other girls.
“I’m hoping to bring the crown back!”
Diane Yalezo, organiser of Miss Scarborough and District, said that Lauren had worked hard to prepare for the event, without a great deal of time to get ready.
She told The Scarborough News: “Lauren has got ready for the finals in record time. She has put in the effort and deserves to win.
“I’m really looking forward to cheering her on and I’m hoping she can bring the crown back to Scarborough.
“Whatever the outcome may be, I’m really proud of her.”
Diane also has two other girls in the competition, Miss York and Miss Leeds, as she is the regional organiser.
Miss England is held every year to find the country’s entrant to Miss World.
The contestant will go on to compete for the coveted international title and the top prize of $100,000.
