Body found and drug arrests in Scarboroug­h

Police in Scarboroug­h were called out to two serious incidents over the weekend.

Police were called at around 7.20am on Sunday after a woman’s body was discovered underneath Spa Bridge.

The woman, believed to be in her late 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstan­ces and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death.

North Yorkshire Police are not yet in a position to confirm the woman’s identity.

The police were also called to an address in Scarboroug­h at around 3.15pm on Saturday.

A man in his 30s who was found at the address received medical treatment from paramedics but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not currently in a position to confirm the identity of the man who died.

Three men and one woman were arrested following the incident.

A man from Leeds and a woman from Scarboroug­h have now been charged with conspiracy to supply class A and C drugs.

James Whittingha­m, 35, of Recreation Crescent, Holbeck, Leeds, and Jaime Johnson, 39, of Cross Street, Scarboroug­h, will both appear before York Crown Court on October 24.

They both appeared at York Magistrate­s’ Court yesterday.

Two other men have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
