Body found and drug arrests in Scarborough
Police in Scarborough were called out to two serious incidents over the weekend.
Police were called at around 7.20am on Sunday after a woman’s body was discovered underneath Spa Bridge.
The woman, believed to be in her late 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death.
North Yorkshire Police are not yet in a position to confirm the woman’s identity.
The police were also called to an address in Scarborough at around 3.15pm on Saturday.
A man in his 30s who was found at the address received medical treatment from paramedics but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are not currently in a position to confirm the identity of the man who died.
Three men and one woman were arrested following the incident.
A man from Leeds and a woman from Scarborough have now been charged with conspiracy to supply class A and C drugs.
James Whittingham, 35, of Recreation Crescent, Holbeck, Leeds, and Jaime Johnson, 39, of Cross Street, Scarborough, will both appear before York Crown Court on October 24.
They both appeared at York Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Two other men have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
