As Halloween approaches, the staff and students at Hatton School of Performing Arts are preparing their seasonal spectacular Monsters, Myths and Mysteries.
With spooky Halloween favourites like Dracula, Frankenstein and Monster High, the show also features a tribute to Scooby Doo, comedy from the Addams family and the senior drama class’s version of the trailer for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
It is also your chance to see the award-winning show team’s latest routines including Dark Angel, Alice and Beetlejuice that have won trophies at competitions this summer.
The school has welcomed guest tutors to prepare numbers for the show.
The Btec Level 3 students have worked on a routine, Darkness, with one of the country’s best choreographers Stewart Arnold, and a male vocal group took part in a workshop with Ben Bickley, recently graduated from Leeds College of music, on AC/DC song Highway To Hell.
“Monsters, Myths and Mysteries showcases all ages, all abilities and all branches of training that the school has to offer, those students preparing for a career in the industry perform alongside those who come for fitness, fun and friendship,” said principal Julie Hatton.
“Packed with the energetic dance routines, striking costumes, stunning vocals and acting skills that we have come to expect from Hattons, this show guarantees a family friendly Halloween experience full of laughs, thrills and entertainment from start to finish. Audience members are more than welcome to come in fancy dress,” she said.
Monsters, Myths and Mysteries will be at the YMCA Theatre, St Thomas Street, Scarborough on Saturday October 15 at 7.30pm and Sunday October 16 at 2pm.
Tickets are £8.50 (£8 concessions) and are available from the YMCA Box Office (01723 506750) and online: tiny.cc/ymcatheatre.
